ELMHURST, IL — On Thursday afternoon, Superior Air-Ground Ambulance Service, Inc. and its affiliate, Life Support Training Institute (LSTI), hosted a graduation ceremony to celebrate 28 new emergency medical technician (EMT) graduates at Superior Ambulance’s headquarters in Elmhurst, located at 395 W. Lake Street.
These graduates completed hands-on training through LSTI, a workforce development initiative that trains, equips, and hires residents for critical emergency medical services (EMS) roles. The program aims to strengthen emergency care across the region at a time when many communities are facing a shortage of EMS professionals.
“This program reflects our commitment at Superior Ambulance to create real opportunities for individuals to make an impact in their community,” said Kim Godden, Vice President of Superior Ambulance. “Each graduate is a representation of a step towards safer communities and a stronger, more reliable EMS system.”

The ceremony was a reminder of the vital role these graduates will play as they bring their skills and dedication to the workforce. Illinois Senate Minority Leader John Curran (R-41), Illinois State Representative Joyce Mason (D-61), and Illinois State Representative Will Davis (D-30) were in attendance and applauded the program’s efforts to strengthen the state’s EMS workforce.
“Programs like this are critical to building a strong pipeline of emergency medical professionals and ensuring our communities have access to high-quality emergency care when they need it most,” said Minority Leader Curran. “I commend Superior Ambulance for investing in workforce development and creating opportunities for more people to pursue meaningful careers in EMS.”

Each graduate has accepted a full-time position with Superior Ambulance, ensuring their training will immediately benefit communities across the region.
Through its “Earn to Learn” program, Superior Ambulance guarantees employment to all graduates upon successful EMT certification. Once hired, full-time employees are eligible for tuition reimbursement to advance their education, an incentive designed to reduce barriers to entry and support long-term career growth in EMS.
Superior and LSTI’s education-to-career model has become a vital pipeline for developing skilled first responders, connecting students directly to employment opportunities and supporting broader conversations around workforce development and healthcare access.
